New life for leisure.
A new life for leisure at The Hill, Home of Ski Rossendale. As long-term partners Ski Rossendale Ltd and Rossendale Leisure Trust come together to collaborate and re-open the iconic Rossendale ski resort.
Whilst the whole of the leisure sector nationally faces challenging times, the impact of the pandemic has been devastating and drove the discussions to focus on a merger between the two organisations.
Ski Rossendale and Rossendale Leisure Trust are working towards a planned reopening date of 24th October 2020 and will come together to deliver leisure and adventure activities. We are incredibly grateful to Rossendale Council who recognise and support the important role that leisure facilities play in the health and wellbeing of the local community.
Dave Fuller, Managing Director at Ski Rossendale, said: “I’m delighted that through these difficult times we have been able to secure a positive future for Ski Rossendale.
We have had a great relationship with Rossendale Leisure Trust which has developed over the last two years and I am looking forward to further developing The Hill, Home of Ski Rossendale, as a great place for our customers to enjoy as part of the excellent wider leisure offering in Rossendale.”
Ken Masser, Chief Executive of Rossendale Leisure Trust, said in a statement: “As a charitable social enterprise, our aspiration is to help protect and improve opportunities for local people to experience health fun and happiness through leisure and activity.
The Hill, home of Ski Rossendale, is an iconic local asset that we believe has a bright future. We look forward to working with the Council and the Ski Rossendale team to continue to provide ski and snow sport opportunities locally.”
Working alongside Rossendale Borough Council, the focus is securing the long-term future of The Hill in the valley. It is an important heritage asset, space for adventure, fun and learning.
Councilor Jackie Oakes, Portfolio Holder for Leisure at Rossendale Council said:
“Securing the future of the facility for residents and visitors to Rossendale has been our priority. We are looking forward to seeing The Hill full of people, either trying skiing, having a coffee or enjoying watching the events and competitions that are planned. It is important to have facilities like The Hill for people to enjoy and keep people fit and healthy. The Hill is really part of the Valley’s heritage, and now through working together it will be part of its future as well. The Council would like to thank Ski Rossendale and Rossendale Leisure Trust for working together with us to ensure there is a viable future for The Hill”.
The Hill will be set to welcome visitors from Saturday 24th October and take bookings for activities from Tuesday 13th October by calling their team on 01706 226 457.
