Yes! It’s that time again. As Rossendale Sport and Physical Activity Alliance prepares to hold its 5th Annual Sports Awards. The organisers at Rossendale Leisure Trust are giving you the opportunity as a community to show your appreciation to the high flying talent and local sports heroes in Rossendale. Do you know a club, group or individual who deserves special recognition for their contribution or outstanding achievement in sport?
The categories for this year are as stated:

Coach of the year

Young Volunteer of the year

Community Club of the year

Rising Star (Under 18)

Lifetime Achievement

With the introduction of two new awards for 2010

Rossendale Sporting Hero
Nomination forms are widely available throughout the community and detail the criteria for each category. For a quick and easy option Rossendale Leisure Trust has provided an on-line nomination form which is available from www.lancashiresport.org.uk/sportsawards just click on local awards.
The winners will be decided by members of Rossendale Sport and Physical Activity Alliance (SPAA) and will be announced at the Sports Awards Ceremony which is due to take place on Friday 27th August at Bacup Leisure Hall.
Nominations are going live Thursday 1st July, so have your forms and pens at the ready and give your local sporting star’s a chance to shine! All entries must be completed by Friday 6th August.

‘Have a seat and move to the beat’
Sit and get fit is a programme Rossendale Leisure Trust are introducing into the residential homes, churches and community centres of Rossendale. It is a chair
based exercise class, aiming to help older adults through their everyday life!!!
The Benefits:
Helps posture and reduces the risk of falls
Prevents isolation and loneliness
Chance to socialise
The chance to stay motivated
Helps reduce the risk of diseases, strokes and diabetes
Good stress release
Helps improve confidence and mental health
Help keep joints moving
Enjoy listening to some music
Increase muscle strength to help push and pull
