Surrounded by picturesque views of the Rossendale hills,
Marl Pits Swimming Pool is situated off Newchurch Road, Rawtenstall. Originally built in
1974 the site was extensively refurbished in 2000 and with a traditional 25 metre, 4 lane
main pool and separate toddler pool, the centre is very much a community facility.
The site provides swimming lessons for over 1000 local
children each week and has a steadily expanding school swimming programme;
in addition the pool offers a wide range of activities including aquatic exercise
classes, early morning swimming, ladies only, adult only and family fun sessions,
to suit every age group and pocket.
Home to both Rawtenstall and Bacup swimming clubs the pool is an enthusiastic
supporter of Rossendale's Swimming Development Forum and is keen to see all aspects
of swimming and water based activities developed in the locality.
